A common element in all successful marketing stories has been an organized and effective marketing plan, which serves as the backbone for the product or service life cycle. Would they have to come back and live in your basement, hiding from their creditors, up to their eyeballs in credit card debt? Its a scary idea, I know, that in theory your teen will be out on their own shortly. Do they have the money skills necessary to survive? Are you raising a shopping addict or a savvy spender? Your teen might need a crash course in money management if: 1. Your teen has no cash concept. Its easy to overspend or not realize that this is really money Im using when its all done via technology. Debit cards and credit cards are convenient; ATM cards have virtually replaced my need to ever actually visit the bank. Which is great on a holiday when I need cash; not so great for a teenager who never associates cash with any of their transactions. If your teen uses a debit or credit card for every purchase, wean them of it for 30 days. For 30 days, all transactions must be in cash, which means they have to have the cash in their pocket. Somehow those necessities become less necessary when you must have the green to make them. 2. Your teen needs things Things as in gizmos, gadgets and junk. I have a saying in my house that is incredibly insensitive in a but I need it moment, but puts it in perspective. You need sunshine, oxygen, food, shelter and basic clothing. No one on the face of the earth has ever needed a video game, a new MP3 player, a newer phone with newer accessories, jewelry, the best shoes at the store, etc. You get the picture. Break them of the habit. Needs are necessities of life. Wants are completely different and are not priorities. 3. Shopping is an errand you run Its not an all-day thing. Shopping is not entertainment. Neither is it the best way to spend an entire weekend. Its also an expensive hobby. The temptation to keep up with their friends is great and just might wipe you out. The urge to shop even when there is nothing to buy is a sign of a shopping addiction. When most of your teens social activities include going somewhere to spend money, this is definitely a sign that possible future money problems are on the horizon. Cut the mall time down. Or better yet, maybe they should get a job at the mall. That way, its the last place they want to be. 4. Your teen always runs over Those commercials for cell phones where the parents are having chest pains over the cell phone bill are funny; but the reason that they work as a commercial is because a lot of us can relate to that and thats not funny. As a parent of a teen, giving them something to be responsible for is the only way to make them more responsible. The unfortunate side effect of that giving of responsibility is that sometimes they screw up. Once or twice is a mistake. Every month, going over on the minutes, putting more on the credit card than theyre allowed, causing you overdue charges, consistently costing you money is a sign that your child desperately needs some money management education. Take the phone, cut the card and get back to basics until theres a change. 5. You didnt just win the lotto Every time theres a birthday or Christmas, the next day, is your child broke? Does one trip to the mall wipe out a paycheck? Are they always borrowing from you to keep afloat or keep gas in the car? Learning to create and manage a budget is a skill that is learned, which theyre not going to learn until you create the necessity. If your teen is working, then they probably know what must be paid for each month. Do they have to keep the car up and pay for their own insurance? Work with them to set up a weekly savings so that those bills are paid. Keep it simple and keep it on the refrigerator until theyve got the hang of it. 6. They missed the formula You know that amazing formula. Want more money? Work more. Or maybe work smarter or for more money. Whatever you do to change that formula, work is always a part of it. If your teen is always moaning and complaining about lack of funds, what are they doing to make money? Do they have a job? Could they work more hours and still keep their grades up? Could they work a weekend job for more cash? Could they work full-time over the summer and save some of that money for rainy days? Getting the work formula is key because it usually helps with money management skills. Your child will start looking at that hot new gizmo and think, how many hours did I work to make that money? What a great way to start prioritizing. 7. Watching you, theyll never do it differently Where do children learn their attitudes and ideas about money? The same place they learn everything else that winds up being really important; at home. If you never pay in cash, why would they? If you need things or are constantly trying to keep up with your friends or neighbors with the best gadgets, best car, best house, etc., of course theyre going to. If you feel insecure about money, they do. If you are always borrowing from one credit card or one bank to keep the other one off your back, then of course they are. If there is no family budget, how could they have a personal budget? In other words, if you need money management help, of course they need money management help. The best way to remedy this situation? Make a money education for your family a priority. Ask for help and then be dedicated to the process of making changes. If youre afraid your teen wouldnt make it financially in the real world, then they probably wont; at least without the opportunity to learn some new money management skills. Dont throw your hands up in despair. You and your family can learn more about money, its not hopeless. Money is a learned skill just like making a bed or driving a car, and your teen learned that! Make a commitment to yourself and your family to make a money education a priority and then do the daily work required. There is evidence that our multi-cultural philosophy has resulted in many thinking these beliefs are equal, peaceful and compatible. The popular thought even goes so far as to describe them as worshiping the same God. While these assumptions are mostly true of Judaism and Christianity, Islam is an opposing belief in every respect. The Catholic Pope has recently been criticized for regarding Islam as a religion of violence and, as recent behavior suggests, the Pope is right. With so many regarding the religion of Islam as above criticism, it’s important to get some facts out so Christians won’t be fooled. While, as Christians, we are to love the Muslim people, their religion is one of violence, with a goal to kill all Christians and Jews who don’t deny their God and convert to Islam. Religion Of Peace: After the Pope spoke, as if to prove him right, violence and death threats erupted all over the Islamic world. So far, 2 murders have been attributed to the Muslim furor over his speech. This violent behavior confirms the truth of the Pope’s words and, more importantly, the bankruptcy of Islam as a faith of peace. Given how little objection “moderate” Muslims have made in the last 10 years to all the bombings, hijackings, kidnappings and missile attacks murdering tens of thousands of innocents, it seems rather silly that anyone would claim Islam to be a peaceful religion. Christianity, on the other hand, is unquestionably a faith of peace, from the teachings of Jesus to love our enemies to His example on the cross, praying for His own murderers. We pray this forgiveness and eternal life be granted to every Muslim, everywhere…that we could become one loving family in Christ. What do you have to do to receive this eternal life? According to the book “Islamic Invasion” by Robert Morey, the Koran says “Fight and slay the pagans (infidels) wherever ye find them, and seize them, beleaguer them, and lie in wait for them in every stratagem of war.” Sura 9:5, and, “Their punishment is…execution, or crucifixion, or the cutting off of hands and feet from the opposite sides, or exile from the land.” Sura 5:33. Just in case you missed it, “pagans” refers to anyone not following Islam…in other words…us. As you can tell from the headlines the last couple decades, these guys take their Koran literally. This is why many refer to Islam as a death cult, promoting violence and murder in the name of religion. Dead Idol-vs-Living God: According to Mr. Morey, Allah is the personal name of the ancient Arabic moon-god, which is why the name needs no explanation in the Koran. This differs greatly from the false assumption of many Christians, myself included, that the name was taken from the Biblical name for God, “El.” The crescent moon symbolizes the worship of the moon-god, Allah, and is the symbol for Islam. This understanding is further reinforced by the fact that all Muslims are required to pray toward the Kabah, in Mecca, the home of the moon-god idol. This isn’t to minimize anyone’s faith in Allah but to make it clear that the God of Christians and the one of Muslims are not the same. The claims that Jesus was a prophet of Allah are false. Jesus is God, the Son, who created us all, was born of a virgin, crucified and rose again to offer us His eternal forgiveness and love. God has chosen to express Himself as Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Anyone claiming the deity of someone or something other than this God is working against his own Creator and risking an eternity without God. Whether or not you follow Jesus, we Christians and our God still love you. Even while the followers of Islam are murdering us all over the world, we’re praying for them, for Jesus to forgive them and bring them into true faith in the one true God. The Muslims regard our Christian love and forgiveness as weakness but it is the sign of true strength from the one God. Love, more than anything else, highlights the vast difference between the obsession of Islam and the faith in Jesus Christ. The way those foods are processed and the things that are added to them can decide the level of health that millions of people experience. These days the most widely marketed and consumed foods in the western world create health problems that have turned entire populations into ‘cash cows’ for the drug companies and medical industry. You have a choice about the foods you eat and you can choose good health or sickness. You can also use supplements to help protect you from the glues, synthetic hormones and genetically modified pseudo-foods that are found in many mass marketed products and restaurant fare. The biggest glues that have helped transform America into the land of the sick in the 21th century are gluten, found in wheat flour and casein, found in cow dairy, the same casein that is used to make Elmer’s glue. Sprouting a grain converts the sticky, acidic gluten into alkaline vitamins and amino acids. Including the outer husks increases the food’s mineral content. Sprouting grains for breads was the traditional method because it was an easy way to break open the hard seed and make the tough, outer husk useable. The steel roller permitted manufacturers to grind the seed, separate out the mineral rich outer husks, isolate the sticky gluten and use that to make soft, acidic white bread. Why is wheat 40% of the American diet? Because it’s cheap and in it’s refined, hybridized state, it can be shaped into anything, except healthy nutrition. It is a major contributor to society’s dangerous over consumption of carbohydrates. What is made out of wheat flour? Bread, pizza, pasta, bagels, muffins and pastries. It’s used as a thickening ingredient in all kinds of foods, soups, candies, and sauces. Wheat gluten paste makes a great glue, but do you want to eat glue? Use 100% sprouted breads that you’ll find in the freezer section. Cows are big animals with little heads. Goats and sheep have large heads and small bodies, proportioned more like humans. Cow dairy products are high in sugar and casein, both of which are sticky glues. Goat and sheep milk products aren’t. Why do companies use such a sticky, sweet food? Because cows are big milk producers and not very picky eaters, in comparison to goats and sheep, so cow’s milk is cheap! Gluten and casein stick to the walls of the digestive system, blocking absorption and slowly degrading the health. Soy is not a good alternative. Rice Milk and Rice Ice Cream are better. For infant’s and children, goat’s milk mixed with carrot juice is a complete food and quite tasty. Goat and sheep cheeses are better for people and sheep’s cheese is sweeter than goat’s cheese.
